Clement Binnings, Jr., M.D. is a graduate of Louisiana State University Medical Center. He is board certified in Family Medicine and completed his residency at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He currently serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Primary Care and Family Practice for the Virginia College of Osteaopathic Medicine and also provides medical services to the students at Roanoke College. Dr. Binnings also serves as Vice-President of PCA, a position he has held since its inception. Personal interests include golf, hiking, writing and yoga meditation.
Firdaus ‘Phil’ Dastoor, M.D. completed residency in Internal Medicine at Detroit General Hospital following graduation from the Medical College of Bombay. He subsequently completed a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Wayne State University and Cook County Hospital. He was in private practice in Florida for thirty years practicing Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine prior to moving to Salem to join the Department of Gastroenterology at Lewis Gale Clinic. He is fluent in several languages. Since joining PCA, Dr. Dastoor has expanded specialty services through PCA Center for Gastroenterology, streamlining patient care and improving communication between specialty and primary care physicians. Interests include music, electronics, and robotics.
Gates Hoover, M.D. received a B.S. in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and his Medical Degree from LSU in New Orleans. He completed a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency at St. Louis University School of Medicine, followed by a Fellowship in Allergy/Immunology at the University of Virginia. He is certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology as well as the American Board of Pediatrics. Clinical interests include pediatric asthma, chronic sinusitis, food allergy and atopic dermatitis. After ten years of practice in the Roanoke Valley, Dr. Hoover joined PCA in 2005, expanding specialty services in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology for children and adults. He is Associate Professor of Clinical Allergy and Asthma Medicine at VCOM. Dr. Hoover has been listed one of the “Top Doctors” in Roanoker magazine, and he has participated in rebuilding missions to gulf states in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He also enjoys fishing and church softball.
Apollo Leong, M.D. completed medical school and family practice residency at the Medical College of Virginia. Prior to joining Primary Care Associates he was an Associated Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Associate Medical Director of the multi-site Rainbow Community Health Program in Milwaukee Wisconsin. His area of medical interest is preventive health care through the integration of exercise, nutrition and homeopathic therapy with traditional allopathic medicine. He and his wife (also a physician) are active in the Roanoke business community and own the Isaacs Mediterranean Restaurant as well as the jewelry-bead store Beads Indeed.
Gary O’Hagan, M.D. received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from the State University College at Potsdam in 1978. His postgraduate education began at Memphis University where he completed his Master of Science in Vertebrate Zoology while working as a research assistant. In 1984 he enrolled at the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis. After graduation in 1988, he attended the Family Practice residency program at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Dr. O’Hagan is a Board Certified family practitioner and has practiced in the Roanoke Valley for twenty years. Professional interests continue in primary and preventative care.
Heather Ball, PA-C joined the medical staff of Primary Care Associates following graduation from the Jefferson College of Health Sciences Physician Assistant Program. She is a member of the America Academy of Physician Assistants and the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants. Professional interests include Urgent Care and Family Practice medicine. Personal interests include music, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Robert Hadley, PA-C, received a BA and PhD in Zoology from the University of Iowa in Iowa City Iowa. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston South Carolina. Professional interests include Family Practice Medicine, with an emphasis on prevention and management of chronic diseases. He teaches broad aspects of medicine to Physician Assistant Students at the Jefferson College of Health Sciences PA program in Roanoke. Robert joined the staff of PCA in May of 2009. He enjoys teaching, natural horsemanship, and home remodeling/carpentry.
Amy M. Hovis, PA-C is a graduate of Virginia Tech where she received degrees in Biology and Chemistry. She completed the Physician Assistant program at Jefferson College of Health Sciences and joined the medical staff of Primary Care Associates in 2006. Amy is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and is a clinical faculty member of the JCHS Physician Assistant program. Professional interests include Occupational Medicine and Urgent Care. She enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
West Salem Clinicians
Delmas Bolin, MD, PhD, Director of PCA Center for Sports Medicine, completed his fellowship in Sports Medicine at University of Pittsburg, where he worked with both the Steelers and the Panthers. He also served as team physician at Virginia Tech for several years. He has a doctorate in Biochemistry and received his MD from University of Illinois College of Medicine, followed by residency in Family Medicine at Michigan State University. He is Associate Professor of Family and Sports Medicine at Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) where he lectures in the classroom and teaches in lab. He instructs students in clinical practice through his work at PCA, and he also teaches VCOM students mission medicine on site in undeveloped countries. He serves as team physician for several area schools and colleges.
James Carr, M.D. graduated from Medical School and completed residency in Orthopedics at Northwestern University. He subsequently completed a fellowship Traumatology, Foot and Ankle Surgery at the University of Washington. He served on the medical staff of Medical College of Virginia Hospital for 12 years, and he has been listed in “Best Doctors in America” since 1994. Dr. Carr has particular interest and special expertise in hip problems, foot and ankle and fracture care, and he is one of few orthopedic surgeons performing hip arthroscopy. Outside interests include nature, gardening and fitness activities.
James M. Farmer, M.D. specializes in operative Sports Medicine including ACL reconstruction, cartilage repair and restoration, shoulder and ankle stabilization, arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle. He is one of the few surgeons performing meniscal and articular cartilage transplantation in Southwest Virginia and also performs partial and total knee replacements as well as general orthopaedic surgery and care of fractures. Dr. Farmer received his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Texas, Doctorate of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Wake Forest. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the International Society of Arthroscopy Knee Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine. Dr. Farmer is a medical consultant to several area high schools and Roanoke College. Lucian Grove, M.D. is a Roanoke native and graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama Hospitals in Birmingham and at U.Va. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow in the American College of Physicians. He has practiced in the Roanoke Valley for 23 years, with an emphasis on preventive medicine. Dr. Grove serves as board member for the Boys and Girls Club, and he is an avid supporter of the Bradley Free Clinic. Dr. Grove has practiced with PCA for five years, providing internal medicine and cardiac testing services at West Salem Specialty Center.
Alice Inouye, M.D. is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, and she completed her residency in Family Practice at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. She has lived in the Roanoke Valley for almost twenty years, assuming leadership roles in the medical community including Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine, University of Virginia School of Medicine and Assistant Director of Family Practice Education at Carilion Roanoke Family Practice Residency Program, and providing house calls for homebound patients. Dr. Inouye joined PCA Urgent Care medical staff in 2008. Professional interests include emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being, and hospice care. Personal interests are Bible Study, reading, knitting, dancing, and piano.
Adrienne Kinsey, D.O. graduated from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She joined PCA medical staff in 2008 following completion of University of Virginia Medical School’s residency in Internal Medicine at Carilion. She also has particular interest in dermatologic care, and she is certified in botox injection. As an internist, Dr. Kinsey sees patients 18 years and up, and she also performs primary care gynecology. Additional professional and personal interests include preventive medicine, nutrition, exercise, and fashion.
Charles Lamb, M.D. is a graduate of James Madison University and Medical College of Virginia. He is board certified in Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is Associate Professor of Clinical Family Medicine at VCOM and University of Virginia School of Medicine, and he lectures annually at the University of London. Professional interests include occupational medicine and biomedical engineering, and he is Director of PCA Occupational Medicine. Outside interests include music and missions; Dr. Lamb performs with a brass ensemble, and he has participated in a number of international medical missions to South America and Africa. He was a team member of PCA’s own medical mission to Gulfport, Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Edwin Polverino, D.O. is a graduate of Southeastern University of Health Sciences. He completed residency in Family Medicine at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Professional interests include family medicine and preventive care. He serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Family Practice and Director of Medical Education in Roanoke and Salem for Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Polverino’s clinical practice is limited due to responsibilities as President of PCA, a position he has held since its inception.
John Priddy, M.D. is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where he received degrees in Psychology and Religious Studies. He received his MD from Eastern Virginia Medical School, and following residency in Family Practice at RMH, he has practiced medicine in Salem for over twenty years. Professional interests include pediatrics, adolescent medicine, preventive care, and dermatology. Personal interests include domestic and international missions and music. He is Associate Professor of Clinical Family Practice at VCOM, where he has received the Excellence in Medical Education award.
Roger Tims, M.D. graduated from Mississippi College and University of Alabama School of Medicine. He is Board certified in Emergency Medicine and has practiced in Roanoke 22 years, with ten years in Emergency Medicine and subsequently in Urgent Care. Professional interests include management of minor injuries, orthopedic problems, lacerations and wounds. Dr. Tims sees patients regularly at PCA West Salem Urgent Care.
Ken Anderson, PAC received a Bachelor of Science degree from George Washington University in Washington DC. He subsequently completed the Physician Assistant program at George Washington University. He has worked with PCA physicians for fourteen years, starting before PCA was formed. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Western Regional Coordinator for the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants. He enjoys reading, cooking, and hiking.
Jaime McNeil, PAC, received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from UnionCollege in SchenectadyNew York. She went on to receive a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in PhiladelphiaPennsylvania. Professional interests include Urgent Care and Family Practice Medicine. She is a member of the AmericanAcademy of Physician Assistants. Jaime joined the staff of PCA in December of 2009. She enjoys reading, camping, kayaking and skiing.
Mike Nichols, PAC graduated from the Physician Assistant program at Bowman-Gray Medical School at Wake Forest University. Professional interests include Emergency and Family Medicine and Surgery. He works in surgery at the VA Medical Center Salem and joined the staff of PCA West Salem Urgent Care in 2007. He enjoys hiking, motorcycles, and hunting. LCDR USNR. Deployed OIF/OEF 2005.
Jennifer Leitch, PT DPT received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with Chemistry minor from Virginia Tech. She is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Jennifer has broad experience in Physical Therapy experience including orthopedic, sports medicine, pediatrics, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, neurologic rehabilitation and inpatient care. She is uniquely experienced in both adult and pediatric PT, and her work has earned PCA Department of Physical Therapy respect among area physicians including orthopedic surgeons and the gratitude of thousands of patients.
Christopher Pyke, PT, DPT originally from Watertown, NY, relocated to Salem, Virginia in the spring of 2009 after having practiced in Charlotte, NC and Syracuse, NY. Chris attended the University of Buffalo for his undergraduate studies and remained there to complete his Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Chris was first introduced to physical therapy after suffering a back injury just prior to the start of his high school tennis season. He was referred to PT and was able to return to playing tennis without missing a match. He was even able to compete at a collegiate level as a member of the University of Buffalo’s tennis team. Chris has a strong orthopedic and sports medicine background with a great appreciation for safe, complete rehabilitation for all patients so that they may return to their sport activity or daily living without missing out on what they want to do. In his spare time, Chris continues to be active in sport activities and exercise. He also enjoys outdoor activities in the Roanoke Valley/Salem area through hiking and camping.
Greg Stewart, PT Assistant, is a graduate of Jefferson College of Health Sciences with over eight years experience in general orthopedic Physical Therapy in Southwest Virginia and in Richmond, Virginia. Greg joined Salem Physical Therapy in 2005. Interests include sports, automobiles, and exercising.
April Hudson, PT Assistant, is a graduate of Jefferson College of Health Sciences with an Associate of applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant. She also, received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Fitness Programming from LibertyUniversity in LynchburgVirginia. Professional interests include orthopedics, working with post-surgical patients, performing manual and aquatic therapy. April joined the staff of PCA in June of 2009. She enjoys assisting patients to improve their quality of life and following their progress in Physical Therapy so that they are able to return to their desired level of function. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family, walking her dogs, exercising and attending church.

Clarke B. Andrews, M.D. is a Salem native and graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed Family Practice Residency at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and is Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Since 1982, Dr. Andrews has been at the Fincastle Medical Center. Dr. Andrews enjoys a variety of outdoor activities.
Floyd Clinicians
Garry Kuiken, M.D. is a native of the New York metropolitan area and came to Virginia in 1967. He is a graduate of the College William and Mary and the Medical College of Virginia. He completed residency in Family Medicine at the MCV/Blackstone program and is board certified in Family Practice. He has been on the faculty of MCV and UVA and currently is affiliated with VCOM in Blacksburg. Dr. Kuiken has lived and practiced family medicine in Floyd, Virginia for over 30 years. Outside interests include music and hiking. He is a member of the Church of Holy Spirit in Roanoke, Virginia.
Rhonda Arthur DNP, CNM, WHNP-BC, FNP-BC completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Case Western Reserve University. She completed her certifications in Nurse Midwifery, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner at the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. Rhonda is currently the Vice Chair for the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Nurse Midwifery. Rhonda joined Primary Care Associates in 2004 and enjoys working rural family practice in her home community of Floyd. Rhonda teaches Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives full time at the Frontier School. Rhonda is also active in the political arena lobbying for women’s and infant’s health issues.
Justin M. Brewer, MMS, ATC, PA-C received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. He worked as a certified athletic trainer for MarshallUniversity in HuntingtonWest Virginia, while completing a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology. He additionally went on to receive a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from WakeForestUniversity in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is an active member of the AmericanAcademy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Professional interests include Sports Medicine, rural family medicine, urgent care and diabetes management.
