Charles E. Lamb, MD, ACOEM, FAAFP – Director
Charlie has been continually involved in the provision of occupational services in the Roanoke valley for over 20 years. He was trained as an engineer, then in family medicine and began offering on-site services to a variety of corporate entities including the State of Virginia and county governments near Smith Mountain Lake. Upon relocating his practice to N.W. Roanoke, he became involved with a number of large businesses and provided on-site services to General Electric, Ingersol-Rand, Hollins University and many others. In 1995, he was selected to become one of seven full-time global medical directors for General Electric where he obtained additional training and certification. He functioned as disability leader for the Industrial Systems Group, nationwide OSHA compliance officer, ADA expert witness, and health care plan manager. Clinical competencies include ACOEM MRO Training, CAOHC, Ergo leadership etc. He functioned as Six Sigma champion for the healthcare team. Responsibilities included on-site clinic management for over 50 clinics worldwide, each with employed nursing and physician personnel. In 2002, Dr. Lamb left his full-time post to become a consultant to General Electric on-site services so as to better focus his efforts on Workplace Safety Solutions, Inc (where he is the CEO) and the Primary Care Associates venture. His experience as both a manager and clinical provider is indeed what sets PCA Occupational Medicine’s practice apart.
Edwin J. Polverino, DO – PCA President
Edwin has been supplying Occupational services to prison inmates and Hancock Steel continuously for many years. He has also provided occupational medical services to General Electric and Student health services to Roanoke College. He has been a Medical Director for three nursing homes in the Roanoke area and provided clinical and practice management services during planning and development of the Radford University’s Mobile Medical Unit program. As the leader of PCA, he is credited with having the vision to recruit Dr. Lamb and the remainder of the occupational staff to build a seamless and integrated team. He is currently employed as part-time faculty for the osteopathic medical school at Virginia Tech and practices part time at the West Salem facility.
Delmas Bolin, MD, PhD
Del brings tremendous skills to the occupational medicine practice of PCA. A certified sports medicine professional, Del’s skill set includes osteopathic manipulation, complex office orthopedics (allowing PCA to manage many fractures in-house) and an intimate knowledge of work hardening techniques. He is available for consultations in the West Salem site. He is currently team physician for the Virginia Tech Hokie football team and is full time faculty at the medical school there. Nationally recognized, Del has recently been asked by the NFL for permission to be included on their panel of physicians for Worker Compensation injuries.
Clement Binnings, Jr., MD
Clem is a long-term Salem provider who primarily does family medicine but has a growing interest and knowledge of occupational medicine. In the past Clem helped set up and man an onsite clinic at Graham White Manufacturing prior to the departure from Lewis-Gale Clinic. He has been a supplier of occupational medicine services to various nursing facilities where he served as Medical Director for Raleigh Court Health Care Center for 16 years and for Salem Health and Rehabilitation Center for 7 years and is director of student health services at Roanoke College. He is based at the Lee Hi office on Apperson Drive.
Amy M. Hovis, PA-C
Amy is the newest member of our team, providing primarily services at the Lee Hi center. She is a graduate of Virginia Tech where she majored in Chemistry and Biology. She received her PA training through CHS and developed interest and competency in Occupational after rotating with Dr. Lamb for two six-week periods.
Dr. Jennifer Leitch
Jennifer is a certified physical therapist having extensive familiarity with neck and back injury rehabilitation. Based currently at the West Salem facility, she and her PT assistant Greg, are able to usually see new consults the same day. Using deep heat, Ultrasound, E-stim and manipulative modalities, they are instrumental in keeping workers working. Plans are being formulated to open a satellite at Lee Hi for physical therapy.
Lori Bishop, LPN
Lori brings over 20 years of family and occupational medicine experience to the table, being skilled at UDS collection, spirometry, audiometry. She is certified for Federal Department of Transportation drug screen collections and many office procedures. Based at West Salem, she is the primary contact person for businesses accessing that site. She may be reached at 540-387-0441 option 1, then 3, then 5.
Ron Eison
Ron is the chief management level administrator for the department. He is the contact person for corporate contracted services such as on-site flu shot clinics, contracting and other on-site services. Ron is able to help sort out any problems with scheduling, billing errors, communication issues and so forth. He functions as the office manager for both occupational sites.
